The protection level system was drafted by IEC (International Electro Technical Commission).

The lamps are graded according to their dustproof, foreign object-proof, waterproof, and moisture-proof properties. Foreign objects here include tools, human fingers, etc., which must not touch the live parts of the lamp to avoid electric shock.

The IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of dustproof and foreign object-proof of the lamp; the second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the lamp against moisture and water intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the protection level. Dustproof level (indicated by the first X), waterproof level (indicated by the second X)

The first X indicates the meaning of the digital code

0: No protection

1: Prevent large solid intrusion

2: Prevent medium-sized solid intrusion

3: Prevent small solid intrusion

4: Prevent solid objects larger than 1mm from entering

5: Prevent harmful dust accumulation

6: Completely prevent dust from entering

The second X indicates the meaning of the digital code

0: No protection

1: Water drops into the shell have no effect

2: When the shell is tilted to 15 degrees, water drops into the shell have no effect

3: Water or rain from a 60-degree corner to the shell has no effect

4: Liquid splashed onto the shell from any direction has no harmful effect

5: No harm when rinsed with water

6: Can be used in the cabin environment

7: Can withstand water immersion for a short time (1m)

8 : Immersed in water for a long time under a certain pressure

Example: LED floodlights are marked as IP65, which means that the product can completely prevent dust from entering and can be washed with water without any harm.
